TENNIS ELBOW:
Tennis Elbow is a form of repetitive strain injury, not only caused by tennis but other raquet sports, gardening and DIY work.
This frustrating condition is characterised by pain and tenderness on the outside of the elbow and is the result of inflammation in the tendon that attaches the muscles which extend the elbow to the wrist bone. Its official title is lateral epicondylitis. As well as local tenderness patients will also experience pain radiating into the forearm with overuse.
At the Rochestown Osteopathic & Acupuncture Clinic Paul and Linda Bodimeade have been treating tennis elbow for many years together with a variety of other sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions such as frozen shoulder, sciatica,back,neck and joint pain.
Patients have found that Osteopathy & Acupuncture works as a more natural and long lasting treatment of choice than invasive surgery or corticosteroids which weaken bone and tendons and do not get to the root of the problem.
Paul offers a unique osteopathic approach to treating this condition. As well as certain osteopathic techniques he uses soft tissue work, deep tissue massage and gentle bio-harmonic articulation to free the elbow joint and aid fast recovery. Linda has a specialist interest in treating this condition uses Tuina massage and acupuncture trigger points. She also often incorporates Moxabustion (a Chinese herb) applied to acupuncture points to promote further healing.
